About Texas 4x4 by Texas Tops

Texas 4x4 by Texas Tops is a working truck accessory and 4x4 service business in the Rio Grande Valley, not a mail-order catalog. We have been at it for 38 years, since 1988, and we still do the work in our own bays with our own people.

Our Story

Texas Tops Truck Accessories opened in 1988, back when the Valley's work trucks were simpler and the roads were rougher. The business grew the way most good shops do: one truck at a time, by fitting caps, liners, and suspension honestly and fixing what needed fixing. Over the years, customers kept asking for more 4x4 work — lifts, wheels and tires, lighting, bumpers, and driveline repair — so we built out the shop to handle it. That is the Texas 4x4 side of the name.

We have never claimed to be the biggest or the cheapest. What we have is time in the trade and a straight answer. If a part will not hold up on your truck, we say so. If a job is better left alone, we tell you that too.

Three Shops, One Valley

Today we run three locations across the Valley so customers are not driving past two cities to get a cap fitted or a front end looked at:

  • Our McAllen shop on US Highway 83 serves the Upper Valley and the Pharr bridge corridor.
  • Our Brownsville shop covers the Lower Valley and the coast.
  • Our La Feria shop sits in the agricultural belt between Mercedes and Harlingen.

Whichever shop you use, you get the same standards. Parts are ordered for your truck, not pulled off a shelf at random, and the work is explained before it starts.

What We Do

Our work covers the full range of truck upfitting and repair, including lift kits and suspension, truck caps, bed liners, tonneau covers, wheels and tires, lighting, off-road armor, and accessories. On the service side we handle 4x4 repair — driveline, suspension, steering, brakes, and cooling — and we support commercial and fleet customers who need several trucks kept on the road.

How We Work

Most jobs start with a conversation. Tell us the year, make, and model, how the truck is used, and what you are trying to solve. We will recommend a setup that matches the truck and the job, price it out, and get it on the schedule. For anything complex, we would rather look at the truck in person than guess over the phone.
